About Us
From Sweden to America to Africa to Argentina. Joseph Mattsson-Boze liked to tell of his travels to advance the Kingdom of God.
Our watchword is "Train Village Pastors."
We started out with "Train National Workers," and progressed to, "Working Together... Teaching all Nations." But it became clear that there was a good deal of teaching that missed the people in the villages, barrios, and outskirts of society.
These people often have little education. Seldom do they have books at all, much less, serious study books. Sometimes they don't even have a complete Bible. They almost never have money, and they are seldom invited to teaching events.
We make it a point to go close to where they are to assure that they get some training in the work of leading a church.
Joseph Mattsson-Boze preaching in Sweden
The Herald of Faith was started in 1958 by Joseph Mattsson-Boze.
He came to the US from Sweden in 1933 and was pastor of the Philadelphia Church in Chicago until 1958, except for a 3 year hiatus in New York at the Rock Church.
God spoke clearly about East Africa, and he resigned the church to answer that call. The church had published the Herald of Faith magazine for many years, and they gave him the publication. That is where our work gets its name.
During the first 24 years, Henry F. Redman, from Belleville, Illinois, worked strongly with us. He led for a while, but then formed his own group in 1982, when Winston Mattsson-Boze was asked to lead. He led the mission until 2009, when Steve Fitzpatrick assumed the responsibility.
JMB with the Dalai Lama in 1958 when he had just fled from Tibet.
Friends
Vijay Komanapalli and John Hus in India regularly send emails saying they are praying for us.
We are in regular contact with Oscar and Maria Rosales concerning the pastors and sewing schools in Honduras. We also stay close to the AMIGA work among the Garifuna people on the north coast of Honduras.
Valeriy Trenogin and Vasiliy Skorokh keep us well informed about developments in the Ural region of Russia. The drug/alcohol rehabilitation there has been declared the most effective in Russia.
Charles Okongo, Kenneth Gong, Moses Okeny, and Fred Latim work in northern Uganda and southern Sudan with help from the Herald of Faith.
Horacio Mosdien teaches with others in northwestern Argentina, also with our assistance.
Naseem Albert in Pakistan continues working in helping pastors in villages.
