Herald of Faith
Winston & Ingrid and the
upcoming India
trip
The young woman
committed her life to ministry in last year’s school. Many others lined up to
tell of their own commitments to ministry. “My father was a pastor, but he died. But now I feel the call. I’m preparing
myself for service. These two weeks of study, especially the teaching on God’s
wisdom, have given me confidence that God can use me.”
A young man said he
was herding sheep when he heard a preacher on a PA system. He paid no attention
until his brother got sick. Then, though
not yet a believer, he lay down by his bed all night praying for him. His
parents thought he had gone crazy. In the morning his brother was better. The
family came to faith, and now the young man is going into ministry.
When Vijay told us
the young people asked a full month of Bible Camp, I got inspired. The
challenge was that April is time of 100 degree heat. These young people (ages
16-25) have a break from school in April and May.
These youth are
energetic. Their hearts are full of the love of Jesus. They are eager to reach
villages that are ripe for the Gospel. I share their enthusiasm. I want to
equip them and send them forth in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Several of the students already lead groups in some of the 40 villages they evangelized
last year. We helped some of them with bicycles last November when Ingrid and I
were there. They are sacrificing to reach their own generation.
We don’t dare let
the opportunity pass by. The existing
churches have promised to provide rice and vegetables for the 2 week training
camp. A Catholic school is renting us the entire campus, including an
air-conditioned room for the teachers to rest in. We will house about 50
students and teach about 70, if we can keep the numbers that low. Many want to
come.
I will travel alone
and leave just after Easter, and won’t get home until May 19.
Let the picture
enclosed remind you that we need your prayers. We hope God speaks to you about
helping pay for the project. We estimate costs at $8000. Last year we saw 13
churches raised up; this year we pray for even greater results.
Ingrid’s perspective:
I will not be traveling with Winston to India this time. However, I will
pack a bag filled with clothes for children, gospel teaching materials, and
supplies for a book mark cross that the women were very enthused about last
year.

The Hindu religion seems to be a very confusing system of
beliefs. Those who practice it live in fear and darkness. They bow in
submi
ssion to idols and sacrifice money and food to appease what they perceive
as good or evil spirits. The picture you see on the right feels evil, but the
idol is there to protect the house from even more evil spirits and destructive
forces. It reminds us that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood,” but
against spiritual darkness. Jesus is the light of the world, the one we can
trust in this life and the one to come. He provides forgiveness of sin and a
love that does not depend on one’s goodness.
We pray for an
outpouring of the Gospel in the villages. It is done by teams evangelizing the
villages and establishing churches where they don’t know the reality of Jesus.
One village, one flame, can ignite a large area and turn it from darkness to
light.
We are thankful for
your prayer support and your generous giving.
Vijay has been visiting Nalkonda, an area quite resistant to the Gospel. Several have been converted and are ready for baptism.
